Overview

The Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business in collaboration with Project Management College, through our Executive Education unit offers the Associate Certificate in Project Management.

This certificate programme features an educational curriculum, which enables students to apply effective skills on the job in real time. Additionally, the content of each course addresses specific knowledge areas identified in the Project Management of Knowledge (PMBOK®), which allows students to be well on their way to attaining Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification.

Successfully complete the following 4 courses to receive an Associate Certificate as well as an individual certificate for each course successfully completed

  • Project Risk Management
  • Vendor Relationship Management

1. Project Management Essentials (21PDU's)

This course is intended to provide a broad overview of the concepts and practices used in effectively managing projects in today's business environment. It covers the basic concepts of the Essential project management tool:

  • Organizing the work
  • Developing a schedule
  • Developing a budget
  • Managing risk and change control
  • Participants gain an understanding of how the project management processes are used during the phases of a project to build a better and more effective project plan

2. Project Cost and Schedule Management (21PDU's)

The triple constraints of Project Management - Scope, Time and Cost - are the focus of this intensive, three-day course. Mastering the art of planning is key to effectively controlling these constraints. Using complex case studies, hands-on exercises and problem analysis, this course leads you in preparing the most important elements of the project plan:

  • The project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS),
  • Gantt chart and critical path network,
  • Bottom-up project budget and Resource responsibility matrix.

Participants simulate briefing the plan to management and the customer to establish the baseline. Course materials include a comprehensive toolkit of templates, checklists and process guidelines.

3. Project Risk Management (21PDU's)

Risk Management has become increasingly visible as an integrated component of an effective project management plan. In this course, students learn to:

  • Identify, analyse, and mitigate project risks.
  • Explore risk response control and the development of lessons learned with the purpose of developing an organisational history for future projects.

Using an applied learning technique, students practice risk management techniques by applying them to problems raised in a sophisticated case study.

Through the use of lectures, exercises, a case study, and classroom discussions, students gain both practical knowledge that can be applied to current projects and basic knowledge that aids in preparation for the PMI® certification examination.

4. Vendor Relationship Management (14 PDU's) - NEW!

To meet increasing business and project demands, organisations often turn to outside vendors (contractors) for help. To your internal and external stakeholders, vendors are an extension of the project team and must be managed well. The savvy project manager needs to be prepared to effectively manage all aspects of vendor relationships, from selecting the right vendor, to getting the right results.

Participants use exercises and simulations to explore the concepts of contract negotiations.

Certification

Certificates will only be issued to participants who have attained a minimum attendance rate of 75% for the duration of the course.

Course Cancellation/ Reschedule Policy

Arthur Lok Jack GSB (ALJGSB) reserves the right to cancel training at any time. If ALJGSB cancels the training due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of ALJGSB, you are entitled to a full refund of the course fee, or your course fee can be credited toward a future training, based upon availability (providing payments have been made before original advertised date).

ALJGSB reserves the right to reschedule training at any time. If ALJGSB reschedules training due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of ALJGSB, the training will take place at the next available time. Participants will be informed via phone and/or e-mails.
